The child's kidneys and urinary tract is so important because they filter all the waste and toxins from our blood. The kidneys and urinary tract also helps to make sure that our tissues receive enough water to function properly. If the kidneys slow down or stop filtering blood, waste products and toxic substances will build up in the blood. Chronic kidney failure can be treated but not reversed, so taking care of these organs is very necessary.
The child's blood is very significant. If we didn't have enough blood, we would get very weak and die. Blood carries oxygen to the organs in our bodies, fights off infections, and gets rid of waste products. Babies and young children need red blood cells because it carries oxygen to their organs. They need white blood cells because they fight off bacteria and viruses. They can also attempt to destroy cells that have become infected or changed into cancer cells. They need platelets because they gather and help seal leaks when a blood vessel breaks. Without these different types of blood cells, children and babies are at great risk of disease and complications.
The Child's Digestive System is very important because every piece of food the child eats must be absorbed to get their nutrients. Without a properly working digestve system, children and babies will not be getting the nutrients from digested food that they need to grow and be strong. A weak digestive system can cause a child to have diarrhea, constipation, and vomiting. All organs that are part of the digestion process produce some kind of acid or bile that helps to break down food evenly so that children can get their nutrients, and so that the waste can exit the body the way it is supposed to.
The child's immune system is very important. It is important because it the body's defense against infectious organisms and other bacteria that invade the body. The immune system attacks the organisms that try to take over the body and cause diseses. Children also need their immune systems to help build up adaptive and passive immunities to illnesses.
The child's heart and circulatory system is quite significant because that is what keeps children alive. The heart pumps blood throughout the circulatory system, which keeps all parts of our bodies functioning. The circulatory system also carries waste and carbon dioxide out of the body. When blood supply is cut off from the brain, this causes a stroke to occur because of damage to the brain cells. This is why it is important to keep the heart healthy; to avoid high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease.
The child's lungs and respiratory system includes the nose, throat, voice box, windpipe, and lungs. Without these, we wouldn't be able to breathe. We need to be able to breath because the body cells needs oxygen for energy cells and growth. Without oxygen the body's cells would die. We need to inhale to bring oxygen into our bodies, and we need to be able to exhale to breathe out carbon dioxide, which is waste gas. Oxygen gets carried throughout the body to keep us alive. Some issues in the respiratory system to watch out for in young children are the common cold, coughs, asthma, bronchiolitis, cystic fibrosis, pneumonia, pulmonary hypertension, respiratory distress syndrome of the newborn, apnea of prematurity, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, meconium aspiration, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, and transient tachypnea of the newborn.
Without bones, muscles, and joints we wouldn't be able to sit, stand, walk, or run. They shape and support our bodies and protect our organs. The bones are strong enough to hold all of our weight. Children need lots of calcium to help bones get harder so that they can support the body as children grow. Muscles make up half of a person's body weight, and they pull on our joints to help us move. Muscles are constantly working inside our bodies even when we sit perfectly still.
Our bodies get energy from food through metabolism. Everyone needs that fuel in their bodies so that they can function properly and be active. If the metabolism process in a living thing stops, that living thing will die. So this means that a healthy metabolism is very significant. If someone has a high metabolism, that makes it easier for someone to burn calories. If someone's metabolism is low, it will be harder for them to burn calories and stay in shape. This chemical process isn't as simple as it sounds, but this is just basically what metabolism does for a person.
The child's mouth and teeth are so significant because they play a huge role in the digestive system, and they also play a big role in the way we speak. The teeth help us grind up food and prepare for swallowing the food, and our lips help to pronounce words. The tongue is covered in taste buds that help us taste, and the mouth helps with air flow to get oxygen to our lungs. All the different types of teeth help with chewing different kinds of food, and all the different tissues protect our teeth, and help us to taste our food.
The skin is our largest organ. It covers our entire body, and protects everything on our insides. Our hair keeps us warm, and protects our nose and eyes from getting dust particles and too much light from getting in. Our nails protect the tips of our fingers and toes. Without fingernails, it would be very difficult to pick up smaller objects. The hair and skin aren't the most significant things that keep us alive, but they sure are helpful to have!
